Marching Band! If you aren’t a fan of marching band, you may not like this post….
So right now a couple of friends and I are watching two different marching band competitions online. One is in Atlanta and the other is in San Antonio. We’re not that big of nerds. Or maybe we are. Let me explain a little bit. So where we’re from, Mason, which has a growing marching band. We already have a nationally known concert band, for about 6 years now. Our next goal, is to get a nationally known marching band. 5 years ago we tried marching ridiculously hard music while marching terrible drill. 2 years ago we got a new music and drill writer. So, just graduating we are kind of into music. We can watch it online on the Fan Network website. This weekend is regional weekend. The last regional competition Mason did, they won. So we’re excited to see how they do tonight, even though they probably won’t win because there is a lot of competition. The goal at the end of the season is to make it into finals at the grand nationals in Indianapolis in a couple of weeks. They only accept the top 12, and we were 22 last year. So there still isn’t a big chance we’ll make it in this year, but it’s kind of what we’re going for. And at this competition today in Atlanta, where Mason is competing, there are a couple of bands that have made it in recently. And the thing with marching band judging, is that it’s completely subjective. The judges are afraid of giving a “good” band a low score. And equally afraid of giving a “bad” band a high score. So it is definitely about getting a name for yourself as a band.
